All You Need to Know about Toner Cartridges

Toner and toner cartridge are one of the key ingredients of any laser printer or copier. It is also one of the most expensive items which you repeatedly need for producing quality prints. But, did you ever try to find out how toner cartridge work? Or what you will do when your toner cartridge need replacement? If not, continue reading to know the working process of toner cartridge and options available when the toner cartridge runs out.

How Toner Cartridge Works?

The toner cartridge is responsible for producing quality prints on paper. It’s design usually varies with different manufacturers and models, but there are some parts which are normally found in almost all types of cartridges. Some of them are seal, toner hopper, doctor blade, wiper blade, developer, primary charge roller (PCR), drum shutter, and organic photoconductor drum. In most of the printers, the printer gathers toner from the toner hopper with the help of the developer. Developer in laser printers is composed of negatively charged magnetic beads and are responsible for collecting positively charged toner particles and transfer them to drum assembly. The drum assembly has stronger negative charge than the beads on the developers and so the collected toner on the developer gets transferred onto the drum.

Next, the drum move over the paper. The paper used in printing has even stronger negative charge than the drum charge and pulls the toner particles off of the drum in a shape of the electromagnetic image. The paper then passes through the heated roller which is heated by the discharge lamp. The heat melts the plastic components available in the toner particles, which in result let the toner be absorbed into the paper fibers and thereby deliver quality printouts.

What to Do If the Toner Cartridge Runs Out?

If your printer is not producing quality images and texts, it may be possible that the toner cartridge runs out. This is not a very big issue. You can retain the efficiency and performance of your printer by simply changing with a new one. When it comes to buying printer toner cartridges, you have usually three options to choose from.

OEM Toner Cartridges: OEM toner cartridges are those cartridges that are designed and manufactured by the same companies that manufacture printers. For instance, you are using HP toner cartridges for your HP printer.

Compatible Toner Cartridges: Compatible toner cartridges are designed and manufactured by the third party companies. These types of cartridges are far reasonable than the original one.

Remanufactured Toner Cartridges: Remanufactured toner cartridges are designed and manufactured using old or damaged toner cartridges. However, such cartridges do not produce quality printout when compared with OEM and compatible toner cartridges.

Having a high-quality toner cartridge is important for getting quality prints. Using your printer when the toner has run out can even damage your printer.
